After coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was identified, the World Health Organisation declared the related coronavirus disease covid-19 a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Some days later it became a Pandemic. Since then, the outbreak has spread to almost all countries and has led governments to take severe measures to slow down the dynamics of the pandemic.
In these difficult times, the International Health Cooperative Organisation wants to extend its support and solidarity to all those who are suffering the disease. Our thoughts are with all those who have lost a loved one.
The consequences of the necessary measures taken are drastically affecting wide parts of our lives and impacting the economic and social activities of organisations and companies. It is also a challenging moment for the cooperative movement and especially for healthcare cooperatives.
Despite the complex and extremely difficult situation, IHCO members quickly reacted and managed to launch initiatives to respond to the crisis. The services of healthcare cooperatives are now more necessary than ever, and they are working hard to keep up with the rising needs.
We want to join to the worldwide applause and extend our warmest gratitude and great admiration to all doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers, pharmacists, janitors, administrative officers and all those workers on the front line struggling to defeat this global health challenge.
