FAESS’ campaign to reduce cardiovascular risks

FAESS, the Argentinian apex of health co-operatives, developed a campaign to reduce cardiovascular risk factors such as snuff, physical inactivity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and unhealthy diet.

The campaign is addressed to the members of Cooperativa Obrera, the largest consumer cooperative of the continent. FAESS president and IHCO Board member Dr. Ricardo López said that “it is the leading cause of death in the country and we can reduce both the percentage of deaths, at about 30 percent, and of disability. It is a social issue and related to the knowledge of what the risk factors are. Concern for community is one the cooperative principles, so the health cooperative movement launched the campaign to accomplish its commitment to the citizenship”.
