The Board of the International Health Cooperatives Organisation met in the Canadian city of Quebec on 7 October. At the meeting they discussed such major issues as the working plan for the coming year, and analysed the results of the Health Coops Best Practices gathering organised by the Canadian federation of health cooperatives.
The President, Dr José Carlos Guisado, reported on the activities undertaken during recent months, highlighting the increase in visibility which health cooperatives are experiencing as an efficient alternative to other health care models, while also delivering social values. “Health cooperatives are really exploding” asserted the IHCO President, illustrating the interest which they are arousing in numerous spheres.
During the meeting the Better Health & Social Care report, drawn up by an international team and overseen by Jean-Pierre Girard, was presented, highlighting the commitment of co-operatives to health in numerous countries worldwide, and how their operations improve access to health care.
