On 23 and 24 August the Argentinian city of Buenos Aires hosted the international seminar entitled “The funding of health systems. The path towards universal coverage”. The event, attended by more than 300 delegates including representatives of the health ministries of Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina, was organised by the Pan-American Health Organisation, the Alliance of Mutual Societies of the Americas, the Latin American Social Security Organisation and the ISALUD University. The aim was to analyse, debate and set out proposals in connection with the contents of the 2010 World Health Report recently published by the WHO.
IHCO Board member and FAESS chairman Dr. Ricardo López spoke at the seminar to set out the vision of health cooperatives with regard to such vital issues as the health economy, the funding of health care systems and the expansion of the social safety net.
